Starting from where I left the crowd
Just a month earlier, I decided to close my first medium account that had garnered over 1000 followers across the world.
It was one of my dreams to achieve that number organically. Nevertheless, I was sucked into the exhaustive trend of commercialization of writing. Everyday I woke up and was stuck to those numbers.
This was the first time my neglected voice garnered so much attention, in a positive manner of course.
Gradually, I became oblivious of the live I used to have for writing and sharing my genuine thoughts. Rather it became more about what kind of articles my audience would like.
What was once a favorite pass time changed into a ‘chore’ of publishing ‘x’ number of articles per month.
This compulsion, like every other compulsion made me lose the warmth with which I initially started writing.
On the very day I reached the 1000 follower mark, I decided to delete my previous account, cutting all chords to the noisy commercial fact-uttering writing.
Every writer want their write-ups to be read and their readership expand. However, I understood, that I not only wanted my writing to reach people but also to be felt.
It felt a bit unsettling to get rid of the cacophony of overburdened ambitions.
